Announcing the Firearms Engravers and Gunmakers Exhibition January 25-27, 2008 Reno NV
Reno, NV (PRWEB) January 11, 2008 -- Reno, NV is the place to be each year when the Firearms Engravers and Gunamkers Exhibition hold their annual spectacular gun exhibition. Members of the FEGA and ACGG present the finest display in gunmaking artistry by America's leading craftsmen. Most of the firearms were commissioned and the exhibition is an opportunity for people to meet the makers, see examples of their work and discuss future projects.
In 1985 the American Custom Gunmakers Guild (ACGG) and the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (http://www.fega.com) (FEGA) decided to join efforts and establish a venue to showcase the work of their memberships. FEGA President Rex Pedersen eloquently states, "A perfect marriage between metal and wood."
FEGA (Firearms Engravers Guild of America) was founded in 1981 and is now the source of information about American engravers and their engraving and the first to support the fine art of firearms engraving. "The strength of FEGA is its members. The willingness to share information and techniques made the Guild grow from about 35 members in 1981 to more than 425. The exhibition is a showcase of engraving where the world of engraving standards is judged." stated FEGA President Rex Pedersen.
The American Custom Gunmakers Guild (http://www.acgg.org) (ACGG) was formed in 1983 with the purpose of creating a viable association of craftspeople actively engaged in custom gunmaking (stockmaking, metalsmithing and related areas) for the exchange of ideas, views, techniques, to increase public awareness and appreciation for fine quality custom firearms and to generally advance custom gunmaking as an accepted art form. "We are an association dedicated to the advancement of the art of custom gunmaking. Each year the quality and artistic expression of the projects displayed have surpassed the previous." stated ACGG President Al Lind.
Commemorating the 25Th Anniversary of the ACGG a raffle for "North American Classic Hunting Rifle" will be held on Sunday. "The raffle gives someone who might not be able to afford a commissioned custom firearm a chance to own one. The winner need not be present." commented current ACGG President Al Lind. A special historical display celebrating the 25Th Anniversary will include the Olympic-winning .22 from the 1908 Olympics and many other early custom firearms from leading pioneers.
Both Guilds will present educational seminars on Monday, January 28th featuring technical topics such as ribbon checkering, stock thru-bolt demonstration, Bulino engraving, metal raised inlaying and acid etching.
The exhibition will be open to the general public allowing everyone to enjoy the finest example of handguns, shotguns and rifles. Exhibition hours are Friday, January 25, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Exposition Hall, Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, NV.
